Christmas Message 2007

Bishop Kmiec's Coat of Arms

December 25, 2007

My Dear Friends in Christ,

At this most joyous time of the year, it is my prayer that we as a Church focus on the true meaning of Christmas, the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

There is a Christmas poem of unknown authorship that I feel captures the spirit of this holy day:

"Christmas is more than a day at the end of the year,
more than a day of joy and good cheer.
Christmas is really God's pattern for living,
to be followed each day by unselfish giving.
Then peace on earth will come to stay,
when we live Christmas every day."

May your Christmas be filled with joy, and may we all live our lives following the example of Christ, as a giving, loving, understanding people of faith.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men (Luke 2:14).

Bishop of Buffalo
