Dear Religious and Respect Life Coordinators,
Thank you for all you do to foster and promote a culture of life within our community and to transform our pro-life efforts into a compassionate, welcoming and productive movement. Whether in your duties as priests, deacons, religious, seminarians, Respect Life Coordinators, educators, or simply men and women of good conscience, you are making a difference and contributing to a culture of life through your prayerfulness, generosity and commitment to service. I am honored to serve as your Diocesan Director for Pro-Life Activities and look forward to our continued partnership.
Each year, the Office of Pro-Life Activities distributes the Respect Life Program, designed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Each of us has a role in implementing this four part plan of prayer, education, responsible citizenship, and pastoral ministry. At your Respect Life Committee meeting or at your faculty/staff meeting, please do the following:
1. Review your pro-life goals and suggested calendar of events. 2. Discuss materials to order and distribute. (USCCB literature) 3. Decide how to keep pro-life resources available. (Display posters, bulletin inserts, brochure rack)
If you do not have a parish Respect Life Coordinator, our office stands ready to assist in helping to select and train one.
All Respect Life Coordinators and Advocates for Persons with Disabilities will be commissioned by Bishop Kmiec on Saturday, September 10 at 9:00am Mass at St. Louis Church, Buffalo. After Mass, the In-Service will take place at the Catholic Center. We invite priests to concelebrate and deacons to vest.
~ To Coordinators: Please make sure to call or email the pro-life office to register for the In-Service ~
Gratefully yours in Christ,
Cheryl Calire Director of Pro-Life Activities
