Annual Rosary for Life Prayer Service

Members of the Pro-Life Committee of Chautauqua County invite all in the community to join them on Wednesday, October 29 at 7:00 pm at the Shrine for the Unborn located in the St. Mary's Cemetery on Route 60, Dunkirk, NY.

The Living Rosary is not a new devotion, but a continuation of the Rosary preached by Saint Dominic and announced by Our Blessed Mother for centuries.  Each bead of the rosary signifies a prayer.  As a participant leads in that prayer, their flashlight will be lit and remain lit until the complete Rosary is prayed.  At the end of the prayers, all lights will be lit; in the dark it becomes a beautiful statement of light for the life of the world!

This prayerful event in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the unborn and patroness of the Americas, confirms our belief that life is precious from conception to natural death.

Bring your Rosary, a flashlight and a chair for your comfort. Dress for the weather. 60 people attending and participating is ideal to form the illuminated Rosary.

For  more information please call Bob & Hanna Russell at 366-4095 or Pat Morelle at 965-2738.  Please visit the Pro-Life Committee of Chautauqua County website

Statement on 40 Days for Life

By: Bishop Richard J. Malone

The Forty Days for Life Campaign, is an ecumenical pro-life effort which has had several successful Spring and Fall campaigns here in Western New York.  They have consistently maintained a prayerful, peaceful presence while evangelizing and witnessing for life.

 Pope Francis has expressed his public support for the 40 Days for Life ministry that promotes respect for the lives of all unborn children, and says he greatly appreciates the dedicated work that they do in a “Culture of Waste.”

I affirm and encourage all pro-life efforts that attempt to reach the ultimate goal of eliminating abortion in order to build a culture of life using peaceful, prayerful, and charitable approaches, including the 40 Days for Life Campaign as they collaboratively work with our office at the Diocese of Buffalo.

Furthermore, I admire all those devoted to protecting human life and encourage all to continue to support pro-life activities, especially uniting with the many events sponsored by our Diocese, including the St. Gianna Pregnancy Outreach Center.  The center actively helps women, children and families supporting their decision to choose life.  This fall, as the need has increased, we have added additional services in the Northtown and Southtown areas and we need your continued support of the parishes and the community to continue to support life!

Thank you to all who have dedicated themselves and their time to the cause of life.  I am grateful for your pro-life support in our Diocese of Buffalo.  Let us continue, in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to be untiring in all our various attempts to defend life so that the right to life is enjoyed not just for some, but for all; born and unborn.

Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Richard J. Malone, Th. D.
Bishop of Buffalo

Dear Respect Life Coordinators and Friends of Life;

Picture pro-life signs (4'X8') talking about adoption and post-abortion healing and the humanity of the unborn and ... and ... and popping up on parish lawns throughout WNY throughout this summer and throughout the year--this year and for years to come!  Proclaiming our Catholic identity as the messengers of Christ's Culture of Life!

The kick-off date was the 4th of July weekend (July 1-4), 2011.  what a way to celebrate our country and its birth of freedom than to proclaim the right of the unborn to the 1st inalienable right--the right to life.  LIFE needs to be considered a core American value again!  Our sign project will help ....
