Seems like a good time to start

Happy Easter! My name Gregg Prince from the Radio Ministry department of our Office of Communications. I've been talking about blogging for a while now with various memos of our staff. Finally Kevin Keenan convinced me it's time. There is an interesting project coming up so the timing is good and there will plenty to write about. I also thought that this being Easter Monday, during a time of new beginnings our Church symbolically but also liturgically, it's as good a day as any to start.
Let me tell you a little about that project you'll be able to follow here (as well as Diocesan Facebook & Twitter) over the next couple of months. Father Ron Sajdak, Pastor of St. Martin de Porres Parish in Buffalo, approached me a few weeks ago about a Mission trip he is conducting with his not-for-profit foundation, Reaching Out 2 Africa. He and a small group will be traveling to Uganda to dedicate a medical supply depot built primarily with funds raised right here in our Diocese with the help of the great people of Western New York.
My job will be to document the trip for our Communications office as well as gather archival audio & video. We'll be sharing that through this website, social media, on our WNYCWeekly radio program and in the WNYC Diocesan Newspaper.
I've already begun the process of getting my necessary immunizations for both the travel itself and the visa process. Soon as I figure out how I'll post a couple of pictures. BTW I'm doing most of this via iPad so this is truly a "new media" project. As such, it's more than bait daunting.
Your prayers for myself and our group from ROTA will be essential and greatly appreciated. Now it's off to research 3G phone sim cards that will work in Uganda and power adapters for all the equipment I'll need to use. Believe it or not, this is the fun part for a tech geek like me :-) Stay tuned....
