The Department of Research and Planning is responsible for the systematic monitoring of emerging demographic and organizational trends which will influence future Church planning. The Director is responsible for communicating and interpreting these developments to the appropriate Diocesan structures and leadership, thereby facilitating long-range planning efforts. An integral part of this long-range planning process involves the development and implementation of appropriate research design, data gathering and analysis.
The Department directly assists parishes, regions, and vicariates by:
- Facilitating pastoral planning projects and parish mergers
- Managing the parish annual statistical reports and coordinating the recording, use, and dissemination of that information
- Providing demographic/financial profiles and projections as requested
