Bishop Kmiec to Celebrate Navy/Armed Forces Sabbath

Active, reserve and retired service members will take part in the annual Navy/Armed Forces Sabbath at St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Buffalo on Sunday, Nov. 5.  Bishop Edward U. Kmiec, bishop of Buffalo, will be the main celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

During the Mass, prayers of thanksgiving will be offered for past service to our nation and intercessions for the present and future needs of the Armed Forces and their families.  Color guards from military units and veterans’ associations are invited to participate.  They will assemble on Franklin Street in front of the Cathedral at 10 a.m.

Following the Mass, a reception will be held in the Msgr. Britt Social Room in the cathedral rectory.

Each year, the Naval Reserve Association sponsors the Armed Forces Sabbath on the weekend preceding Veterans’ Day in cooperation with the National Conference of Ministry in the Armed Forces and the Armed Forces Chaplains Board.
