Administrators for Catholic Schools
The start of a new school year brings
a myriad of changes in the schools. Some
have new teachers, some have new principals.
Two schools in the Diocese of Buffalo have new canonical administrators,
a person who is responsible for the Catholicity of the school and for
creating an environment where the Catholic school can thrive.
Bishop
Edward U. Kmiec named Father Richard W. Blazejewski canonical administrator of Genesee-Wyoming
Central Catholic School, Attica, and Father
Gary R. Kibler canonical administrator of DeSales Catholic School, Lockport. Both appointments are for a term of three
years. In addition to his work as
canonical administrator, Father Blazejewski will
continue to serve as pastor of St. Joseph Parish and St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, both in Perry, as well as serve as episcopal vicar of the Wyoming vicariate. Father Kibler will
also continue with his pastoral duties at his parish, St. Mary, Lockport.
Father Robert S. Hughson,
pastor of Prince of Peace Parish, Niagara Falls, has been named the new episcopal vicar for the Western Niagara vicariate. He takes over for Msgr. Leonard Biniszkiewicz who recently retired. Father Hughson has been pastor of Prince of
Peace since 2001.
Bishop
Kmiec also announced that Father Jacob
C. Ledwon and Father Sebastian C. Pierro were
reappointed to their current assignments. Father Ledwon
has been assigned to a third term of six years as pastor of St. Joseph
University, a position he has held since 1994.
In Niagara County, Father Pierro began his
second term as pastor at St. Peter Parish, Lewiston. Father Pierro was
named pastor of the parish in 1999.
In
addition to the diocesan assignments, Bishop Kmiec also granted presbyteral faculties to Father Marcel Sokalski, OFM Conv., who has joined the staff of the St. Maximilian
Kolbe Friary in Athol Springs.
