Blessed Sacrament Parish plans Rites of Transition

Divine Mercy weekend will mark the first step in the formation of St. Mary Parish in Arcade.  Members of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Delevan will be welcomed into their new faith community on Sunday, April 15, as St. Mary Parish is formed in Arcade.

Sunday morning at 10:30, parishioners of Blessed Sacrament will gather at their church and then process with the Blessed Mother statue, Sacred Heart statute, sanctuary lamp and the Eucharist to SS. Peter & Paul Church in Arcade where they will be welcomed by their new fellow parishioners.  There will be Solemn Benediction followed by Mass of the Feast of Divine Mercy and Peace.

On March 11, Bishop Edward U. Kmiec announced St. Mary (East Arcade) and Blessed Sacrament (Delevan) parishes would merge into SS. Peter & Paul (Arcade), with the new faith community known as St. Mary.

Blessed Sacrament’s final Mass was celebrated on Easter Sunday.  The final marriage of the three parishes will take place on August 14 when Bishop Edward M. Grosz, auxiliary bishop of Buffalo, celebrates the first Mass for the newly-formed St. Mary Parish.
