New Administrator Named
for Korean Community
Bishop Edward U. Kmiec has appointed a
new administrator of the St. Andrew Kim Korean Catholic Community in Tonawanda and also reappointed two pastors to
an additional term at the parishes they are currently serving.
Father
Jae Hun You
came to the Diocese of Buffalo from the Diocese of Cheongju,
Seoul, Korea, and has been named administrator at
St. Andrew Kim Mission where he replaces Father Dominic Jung, CPPS, who has
been given the responsibility of coordinating all Korean priests placed in
ministry in North
America. Father Jung occasionally will be present to
the Korean community in Buffalo as he takes on his new position. St. Andrew Kim Mission is located in Tonawanda on O’Hara Road and has a Korean Mass each Sunday at 11 a.m.
Msgr.
David M. Lee, former
director of the diocesan Office of Communications for many years, was appointed
to a second term as pastor of St. Ambrose Parish, Buffalo.
Msgr. Lee was named pastor of the South Buffalo parish in 2000. His previous assignments, in addition to
running the Office of Communications, include teaching at the Diocesan
Preparatory Seminary, Buffalo, and Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, and serving as administrator of St.
Brendan parish, Almond, and campus minister at Erie Community College.
Father
Ronald B. Mierzwa was appointed to a third term as pastor at Holy Name of
Mary Parish, Ellicottville, where he has been serving since 1994. A native of North Tonawanda, Father Mierzwa
also has served at Infant of Prague and Our Lady Help of Christians, Cheektowaga; St. Mark and St. Lawrence, St. Bartholomew, Buffalo; St. Mark, Rushford; SS. Peter and Paul, Arcade; and St. Philomena,
Franklinville.
