Women’s Commission to honor four locals

Monday, July 23, marks the date of the annual celebration for the feast of St. Mary of Magdala. Sponsored by the Commission on Women in the Church and Society, this year’s program is entitled “Called by Christ: Walking Humbly with Our God” and will be held at St. Joseph University Church, 3269 Main St., Buffalo.

The program will center on both named and anonymous biblical women who responded to God’s call. In addition, four local residents will be recognized for their generous response to that call, Sister Janet DiPasquale, SSJ, Katherine Mang-Haag and Sally and Jim Orgren.

The Commission on Women in Church and Society was established in 1985 by Bishop Edward D. Head. The group meets throughout the year and is a liaison between the women in the diocese and Bishop Edward U Kmiec.

The prayer service, to be held in the parish’s community room, is open to the public.
