Kenmore parish to host workshop on global climate change

Global Climate Change:  A Catholic Response workshop will be held at St. John the Baptist Parish, 1085 Englewood Ave. in Kenmore on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be Dan Misleh, director of the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change.

Pope Benedict XVI has made a number of references regarding the future of the planet in recent months, saying, “To the new generations to whom the future of the planet is entrusted, there are evident signs of a development that has not always known how to safeguard the delicate equilibriums of nature.

“Before it is too late, it is necessary to make courageous decisions that reflect knowing how to re-create a strong alliance between man and the earth. A decisive ‘yes’ to the protection of creation and a firm commitment to reverse those tendencies which run the risk of bringing about situations of unstoppable degradation are necessary.”

Three workshops will be offered:  (1) how parishes can save energy, save money and save the planet; (2) how energy efficiency begins at home and (3) world poverty and global climate change.

The cost of the workshop is $5 per person and includes lunch.
