Bishop Appoints Sister as New Human Resources Director

In mid-December, Sister Shawn Czyzycki, CSSF, joined the staff at the Catholic Center, the main offices for the Diocese of Buffalo. Her religious background and more than 25 years of experience in human resources made her an obvious choice when Bishop Edward U. Kmiec named her the new director of human resources.  She replaces Paul Eberhardt who is retiring this month.

Sister Shawn’s story is a unique one.  She entered the convent years ago, completed her postulant and novice years and left during her annual professed years before being perpetually professed.  She worked in the secular world, earned a bachelor’s degree in human resource management and built a successful career in her field.  In 1999, she entered the convent again and now continues to serve both her Felician community and the human resources field.

The bulk of Sister Shawn’s human resources experience has been in the field of banking, but she also was the director of the life long learning at Villa Maria College, Buffalo, and a part-time human resources consultant at Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora.
