Three Priests Receive New Assignments

Bishop Edward U. Kmiec recently announced the following clergy assignments.

Father James W. Fliss has been appointed pastor of St. Anthony Parish, Farnham, for a term of six years.  In February, as part of the Journey in Faith and Grace parish restructuring process, Bishop Kmiec stated that St. Anthony would merge with Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Brant.  The merged parish will use St. Anthony church as the worship site.  Father Fliss had been pastor of both parishes before their merger.

Ordained in 1975, Father Fliss was parochial vicar at St. Hyacinth, Dunkirk; St. Paul, Kenmore; St. Rose of Lima, Buffalo; Queen of Martyrs, Cheektowaga; and St. John the Baptist, Kenmore.  In 1995, he received his first pastorate when he was assigned to St. Agatha, Bufffalo.  In 1999, he was named pastor of St. Anthony and was given the additional responsibility of pastor at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in 2003.

All Saints Parish in Lockport has a new parochial vicar and temporary administrator.  The parish was formed by the merger of St. Anthony, St. Joseph and St. Patrick parishes in Lockport, with St. Patrick church being the primary worship site.

Father Daniel A. Young was appointed temporary administrator, effective April 22.  Father Young had been pastor of St. Anthony and St. Joseph parishes, Lockport.  He was ordained in 1995 and had also served at Infant of Prague, Cheektowaga; Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Harris Hill; and St. Mary, Pavilion.  In 2003, he was named pastor of St. Thomas More, Ripley, and St. James Major, Westfield.

Effective April 2, Father Francis Schimscheiner, OSFS, was named parochial vicar for the parish. He formerly was pastor at St. Patrick Parish, Lockport.
