The Gabriel Awards are designed
to honor works of excellence in broadcast programs, feature
stories, and stations which serve viewers and listeners through
the positive, creative treatment of concern to humankind.
They are sponsored by Unda – USA a professional
membership organization of Catholic communicators
working in radio and television.
Our Daily Bread was
a recipient of
a 1999 Gabriel Awards, along with ABC News: 20/20, Dateline NBC,
the CBC and WGBH of Boston.
The winning episode featured Fr. Joseph
Bayne, OFM Conv., the executive director of the Franciscan Center in Buffalo,
New York. The purpose of
the Center is to provide a safe, homelike structured environment for
runaway homeless boys. |
