Two picnics for people with disabilities will be held this summer – one in northern Erie County and the second one in southern Erie County.
The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo’s Lifelong Faith Formation Department organizes the free picnics that usually attract more than 300 people with disabilities and their families.
On Saturday, July 14, the St. Gregory the Great Parish Advocate for Persons with Special Needs committee will host the picnic from noon - 3 p.m. in the Ministry Center at 100 St. Gregory Court, off Maple Road, Williamsville. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. St. Gregory the Great has held the picnic on six previous occasions.
On Saturday, Aug. 18, for the first time, St. Bernadette Parish Open Doors Ministry will host the second picnic in the school gym at 5930 S. Abbott Road, Orchard Park, from noon until 3 p.m.
“We welcome our brothers and sisters with disabilities and their families to join us for the summer evangelization and celebration event,” said Sharon Urbaniak, associate director for the Department of Lifelong Faith Formation.
