The Domestic Violence Awareness Task Force, Diocese of Buffalo, was established in 1994 by representatives from the Commission on Women in the Church and Society, Office of Church Ministry, Catholic Charities, Buffalo Council of Catholic Women, and Child & Family Services Haven House.  It continues to be a valuable resource for individuals, parishes, and institutions.

The Task Force has worked to develop and provide workshops, programs, and resources for people throughout the Diocese, especially clergy and other parish personnel.  There have been prayer services; referrals for abused women; speakers for parish groups; and training for parish personnel, priests, deacons and seminarians.

The Task Force has developed a packet of materials to help parishes deal with the issue.  They can be purchased by calling the Church Ministry Office at 847-5531.
