Bishop Richard J. Malone will celebrate this special Mass to open the Year of Faith.  He will commission active Catholics from parishes across the Diocese of Buffalo as disciples and witnesses to Christ.   At this liturgy, the Book of the Gospels will be introduced in procession and honored at the Lord's Table signifying one uniquely Catholic approach to evangelization - through Word and Symbol we encounter the Lord and are enthused for a life of faith at home, among friends and through our work.  At the Rite of Dismissal, representatives of all the parishes of the diocese will be given the Apostles' Creed (in all the major languages spoken in this diocese) and commissioned to be evangelizers through word and deed.  In the subsequent weeks parishes are invited to commission their people to pray as a family of faith and announce Good News through corporal and spiritual works of mercy.  Parishes and families will display God's Word prominently and consider it prayerfully as they take up their mission as those "sent" by Christ.
