Description: Under the direction of the Pastor, the Director of Liturgy provides leadership in the planning, execution and celebration of all liturgies within the family of parishes. This includes preparing for liturgical seasons, holydays, and special events ensuring that practices align with liturgical norms.
Responsibilities include:
• Planning and Preparation for liturgical seasons, holydays and special liturgies, ensuring that family practices are in accordance with liturgical norms.
• Recruiting, formation, training and monthly scheduling of liturgical ministers.
• Providing leadership in the planning, execution, and celebration of liturgical celebrations.
• Overseeing music groups, decorating teams and other aspects of worship to ensure a balance of styles while encouraging active participation.
• Reporting music usage (live streamed Masses and worship aids) to publishers.
• Managing the family’s liturgy & music budget.
• Ensuring the equipment needed for worship (e.g., sacred vessels, vestments, candles, church furnishings, sound equipment, etc.) is kept in a manner worthy of its use.
• Ordering liturgical supplies as needed: hosts, wine, candles, lector workbooks, etc.
• Convening regular (Zoom) meetings with ministry heads and other liturgy committee members.
• Designating sacristans at each parish who would prepare for liturgical celebrations and maintain the sacristies.
• Working collaboratively with clergy, parish leadership and ministries in the family.
Job Requirements:
• Practicing Catholic who understands and supports Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values.
• Strong knowledge of the Church’s official liturgical books and various rites used in celebrating the sacraments of the Church in their appropriate liturgical contexts.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Must be organized, have the ability to work independently and able to multitask.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, email, etc. Working knowledge of Ministry Scheduler Pro and Parish Data Systems a plus.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Bachelor’s degree in liturgy, pastoral studies, theological studies or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience participating in parish liturgical ministries.
Salary: $20 – $22 per hour
