Elementary Teacher – 2nd Grade Long Term Substitute

Brief Job Description: The candidate will be expected to fulfill all the obligations of a full-time elementary teacher, responsible for instruction of the required curriculum. This includes creating a positive learning environment, developing and implementing lesson plans effectively, formative and summative assessment of student progress, and a number of administrative and homeroom duties such as attendance, parent communication, report cards, etc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NYS standards and curriculum
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective classroom management skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with students of all ability levels, differentiate instruction, and use a variety of teaching techniques
• Demonstrated evidence of the ability to reflect and contemplate on one’s teaching allowing for growth and excellence
• Demonstrated evidence to use data and assessment tools to identify needs, assess student progress and performance, plan instruction to improve performance and achievement of all learners
• Demonstrated evidence of optimism, enthusiasm, compassion, warmth, understanding, and sensitivity to all students
• Demonstrated evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, teachers, parents, and administrators
• Demonstrated evidence of a willingness to actively engage students in their learning
• Demonstrative evidence of experience to use and incorporate technology to support students’ learning

Qualifications: Required Education/Experience:
• Teaching experience, particularly at the Elementary Level
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education required, Master’s Degree preferred
• NYS Teaching Certification (completed or in progress) preferred
• Virtus Certified and Background Check

Desired Skills:
• An eagerness to become an active member in our school community
• Knowledge of Google Classroom and eSchool
