Floating Building Custodian & Maintenance (2 PT positions available)

Brief Job Description: Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment for worship and parish community activities. Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms, sanitizing, vacuuming, mopping, taking out trash, snow and leaf removal, and setting up for events. Will be responsible for managing supplies and ensuring the facility is welcoming. Must be able to perform minor repairs and building equipment maintenance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Sweep, mop, vacuum floors, sanitize restrooms, clean foyers, shovel snow and remove trash.
• Able to set up chairs, tables and equipment for services, meetings, and community events as well as cleaning after some events.
• Building Maintenance: changing light bulbs, minor repairs (such as fixing clogging sinks/toilets), maintain cleaning equipment, and monitoring of HVAC systems.
• Supply Management: take periodic inventory of janitorial supplies, maintain inventory and replenishments according to the arrangement with the business manager.
• Security & Safety: locking/unlocking doors, ensuring windows are secure, checking for safety hazards and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Most work will be performed during 1st shift (7 am – 3 pm). There will be times when work will be required outside of those hours. Schedules may vary as needed.

Qualifications: Required Education/Experience:
• High school diploma
• Previous experience in facility maintenance or janitorial experience is generally preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and good communication skills.
• Reliable transportation and cell phone are necessary.
• Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, bend, climb and lift up to 40-50 pounds.
• Character: A respectful demeanor and discretion is required. All parish employees are required to take Safe Environment training (paid) and pass a standard background check.

Desired Skills:
• Organized and able to work within a job share position.
• Handyman skills including the ability to handle minor repairs and routine equipment maintenance.

Salary: $17-$20 per hour depending on experience
