High School Culinary Skills Teacher

Cardinal O’Hara High School is looking for a dedicated full-time Culinary Skills teacher for our co-educational Catholic high school. The Culinary program focuses on both food service and hospitality skill development. This integrated program draws students from both the Saint Margaret Scholars program and the general education population. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills and an ability to foster creativity in students; a broad knowledge in all aspects of food service and hospitality content and effective classroom management techniques; and the ability to integrate faith and Catholic social teaching throughout the curriculum.

Core Responsibilities:
● The ability to establish positive, appropriate and faith-based relationships with students.
● Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the school’s curriculum goals as well as the individual needs of each student.
● Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
● Evaluate student’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare reports relating to student’s progress.
● Communicate with parents, if applicable, through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
● Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve problems that may arise.
● Participate in faculty and department meetings

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a content- related field required. New York State teaching certification preferred.

Salary: $30,000-$35,000 depending on education, certification and experience
