Music Director

Brief Job Description:
· Plan and provide keyboard music for two parish Sunday masses, currently held at 9am and 11am. Plan and provide music for Saturday 4pm vigil masses from Memorial Day to Labor Day to cover the time that a volunteer ensemble takes a summer break. Vocal skills to lead congregational singing are desired.
· Plan and provide music for the following additional masses:
o All Holy Day masses, currently held at 5:30pm on the vigil and 11:30am on the Holy Day, with a possible evening mass added.
o Other special liturgies, including the sacred Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil), Thanksgiving, and Confirmation; often working jointly with other music directors and/or singers and musicians from Bread of Life Family parishes.
o Occasional paraliturgical services requiring music, such as penance services, Stations of the Cross, and holy hours.
· Conduct a volunteer choir that sings at 11:00am on Sunday from Labor Day to Corpus Christi Sunday. Hold weekly rehearsals (currently held on Thursdays at 7pm).
· Conduct volunteer group of singers and musicians who provide music at 9am Sunday mass, including a brief rehearsal at 8:30am.
· Maintain and foster the current cantor formation program.
· Be available to provide music for weddings and funerals, which are treated as privately contracted events and payable by the parties involved. (Currently accepted stipends are $200 for weddings and $150 for funerals.)
· Support upkeep of the Allen 3-manual electronic organ and Baldwin baby grand piano. (The piano is tuned twice per year, once in the spring and once in the fall.)

Qualifications: Required Education/Experience:
• Experience in music ministry or church music leadership role
• Bachelor’s degree in music is preferred, but relevant experience will be considered
• Compensation to be negotiated commensurate with qualifications

Salary: $25,000 – $30,000 per year
