Teacher for UPK (4 Year Old Program)

Brief Job Description: The UPK 4-Year-Old Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a high-quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood program aligned with New York State Prekindergarten Learning Standards. The teacher will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of 4-year-old children preparing for kindergarten.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Plan and implement daily lesson plans aligned with NYS Pre-K standards
• Create a developmentally appropriate, play-based learning environment
• Foster children’s social-emotional growth, independence, and early literacy/numeracy skills
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress using approved tools and documentation systems
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, related service providers, and support staff
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, behavior, and development
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development
• Support inclusive classroom practices for all learners, including students with IEPs or special needs
• Maintain accurate records including attendance, assessments, and progress reports
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and clearances.

Qualifications: Required Education/Experience:
• New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood (Birth–Grade 2)
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master’s preferred or in progress)
• Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3–5) preferred
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong classroom management and communication skills

Salary: Starting at $30,000+ based upon experience/education
