Brief Job Description: The Eternal Flame Catholic Community (Family 28) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Ministry Assistant to support a dynamic youth ministry program for middle and high school students and young adults. This role is responsible for assisting the Youth Ministry Coordinator in fostering a strong sense of faith, community, and discipleship by engaging youth in prayer, fellowship, service, and faith formation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with the implementation of the youth ministry program to support the spiritual, social, and emotional growth of middle, high school students and young adults.
Assist with planning and preparation of Middle School, High School and Special Ministry events
Attend and assist with Middle School, High School and Special Ministry events
Facilitate Small Groups, Bible Studies and other activities.
Encourage youth involvement in acts of charity, justice, and outreach to the broader community.
Collaborate with parish ministries and diocesan events to enhance youth engagement.
Assist with set-up and break-down of all Youth Ministry events
Foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.
Build relationships with families, volunteers, and parish staff to create a unified ministry approach.
Qualifications: Required Education/Experience:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
A strong, active Catholic faith with a commitment to Church teachings.
1-2 years previous experience in youth and /or young adult ministry, catechesis, or pastoral ministry
Knowledge of Catholic teachings, liturgy, and contemporary youth culture.
Ability to move between classrooms, meeting spaces, and event locations.
Availability for evening and weekend events, retreats, and gatherings.
Excellent communication and organization skills.
Ability to connect with youth and create engaging faith experiences in a safe environment for youth.
Compliance with diocesan child protection requirements. Virtus compliant or willing to complete training prior to start date and then keep current.
Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
Ability to participate in physically active games and activities.
Preferred:
Special skills in areas such as music, technology or others that can be applied to the Youth Ministry work is a plus
Familiarity with diocesan youth ministry guidelines and best practices.
