Have you or a loved one recently suffered a stroke or are
you a long term stroke survivor? Join us for a free stroke support group.
Meetings are held each month and include a guest speaker discussing various
topics of interest for stroke survivors and their caregivers. This month's
topic:
Emily
Rowles-Saraceni, AEMT-P, NYS CIC, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Liaison at Mercy
Hospital, will discuss what to expect when you call 9-1-1 for a stroke
emergency and the different levels of care available to individuals
experiencing stroke symptoms. She will also present information on the Cincinnati Prehospital Stroke Scale, which looks at
facial droop, arm drift and speech to help EMS providers determine the
probability of a stroke before patients get to the hospital, and teach you how
to use the scale at home.
