ST. MARTIN OF TOURS; “$’BRUCE-ing Up the Windows” with Springsteen!
Bruce Springsteen, an icon in the secular world of music, known by fans as “The Boss”, has created music that transcends generations. It is precisely that fact that St. Martin of Tours pastor, Father Bill Quinlivan and his concert committee are hoping will attract lovers of the rock legend’s music, both Catholic and non-Catholic alike, to their fundraising event coming this fall.
On Friday, October 18th , St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church on Abbott Rd. will be hosting a fundraiser at 7pm in South Buffalo at Our Lady of Bistrica’s parish hall (Cardinal Stepinac Memorial Auditorium) with the help of local rock band BADLANDS. The event will raise funds to help pay for new windows for the regional school, Notre Dame Academy. Father Bill commented, "I've always been impressed by the impact Springsteen's music has on his fans. We're hoping people will enjoy this band and support us because most parishes could use some new 'Glory Days' of fundraising to improve our schools!"
Lead singer and Springsteen look alike, Jason Patti, created BADLANDS; a tribute band to the music of Bruce Springsteen back in high school. By day, Jason is a Catholic husband, father of two and a mechanic who owns his own shop, Broadway Service Center. By night, he turns into “The Boss” and rocks a 3 hours concert with ease in his t-shirt and jeans. He began singing Springsteen’s songs as a “Born to Run” teen and his 8 piece band, BADLANDS, has evolved over the years selling out Buffalo’s Tralf three nights annually. “I’m thrilled to be a part of helping to “S’BRUCE” Up the Windows” for NDA in South Buffalo. I pray our gifts and talents will be able to bring others out to have a good time and help the kids too,” said Jason Patti, lead singer who not only sounds just like his idol Bruce Springsteen but is an entertainer. Concert reviews and those who’ve attended his 3 hour shows say it’s evident that he loves what he does as he jumps into the crowd, dances on and off stage, and leads with more enthusiasm than “The Boss” himself.
