ADVOCATING FOR LIFE
Office of Pro-Life
Office of Pro-Life Ministries
This office implements the four legs of the U.S. Catholic Bishops Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Ministry through education, legislation, pastoral care, and prayer. This office advocates for the sacredness of all human life from conception until natural death, and responds to threats to life. It is our hope to build a “Culture of Life” that respects and protects all life, particularly the most vulnerable – the unborn, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and the terminally ill.
March for Life Update
It is with regret that we are informing you that the Diocese of Buffalo has canceled the trip to the March for Life for the year 2022 in Washington, DC.
Due to the ongoing pandemic and youths being potentially exposed to Covid, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington has decided to cancel the in-person Youth Rally at Capitol One Arena.
We have decided to have specific scheduled activities in the diocese to continue our support on a local level:
- 16:30 pm
- St. Joseph Cathedral, 50 Franklin Street, Buffalo, NY
During the Mass, the diocesan Office of Pro-Life Ministries will present the annual Pro-Vita Awards. These awards are intended to recognize people who have labored tirelessly for the pro-life cause and to give them strength, encouragement, and support. Main Celebrant – His Excellency, The Most Reverend Michael William Fisher.
- 17:30 pm
- St. Gregory the Great, 200 St. Gregory Court, Buffalo, NY.
We have also scheduled a Mass with Bishop Mike Fisher encouraging all to attend, especially our youth on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 at 5:30pm. This will be our local “March for Life” with lite refreshments to follow after Mass. We look forward to working with you on the various ways in which we, as a Diocese, can still actively, prayerfully and peacefully participate as much as possible.
The Youth Rally and Mass for Life at the Capitol One Arena in D.C, unfortunately, the in-person rally is canceled this year due to low registration. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the National Prayer Vigil for Life will have limited seating, for more information visit https://www.usccb.org/national-prayer-events-for-life.
