Charis Retreats & Theology on Tap

The Diocese of Buffalo Department of Youth & Young Adult Ministry is a partner with the following national ministries that focus on young adults. Your parish or group can work with us to leverage our partnerships, access valuable materials, and host events.

Faced with substantial numbers of young adults leaving the Catholic Church, Charis was founded by the then Chicago Providence of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 2000 to reach out to these young men and women with the unique gift of Ignatian Spirituality. Through their retreats, Charis helps young adults see grace or "charis" in the midst of transitions in careers and relationships, in their struggles and joys.

A few times a year, our department hosts Charis Retreats for young adults throughout the Diocese. However, your parish, college, or group can also work with us to host your own retreats. We will provide you with materials/retreat outlines, guidance and support. Available retreat themes:

  • Seekers
  • What Next?
  • Who Do You Say That I Am?
  • Choosing to Be Catholic
  • The Spirit at Work (discernment)
  • Christ Alive in Our Marriage

Renew International's Theology on Tap

RENEW Theology on Tap (RENEW ToT) is outreach to and collaboration with young adult Catholics in pursuit of spiritual growth. It is a method of invitation, based on a spirit of hospitality, which creates a space for people in their 20s and 30s to explore how faith in Christ can speak to their circumstances. Theology on Tap events seek to "meet young adults where they are" and are best held at local restaurants, coffee houses or pubs.
