Cultural Diversity Celebration Dinner Dance

Friday, October 15, 2021 at Samuel’s Grande Manor at 6:30 p.m.

The Office of Pastoral Ministries of Cultural Diversity in the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo celebrates the cultural diversity of our region. We serve the pastoral and spiritual needs of Buffalo’s various cultural communities. I’m writing to seek your support as we organize the first Cultural Diversity Celebration 2021.

The festivities will take place at Samuel’s Grande Manor in Williamsville on October 15; beginning at 6:30 P.M. Guest will eat foods and dance to music from our various cultures.

Community support will allow us to continue programs including: leadership training, educational courses, scholarships, prison ministry, radio programming, revivals, retreats, and ethnic celebrations, such as the African Bazaar, Hispanic Heritage Mass and celebration, Black Catholic Heritage celebrations and Family Days.

Cost is $50 per person.

A Call From the Community for Peace in our Streets

On Wednesday, July 21, at 11:30 a.m. at Niagara Square, Buffalo Diocese Bishop Michael W. Fisher will host a prayerful community gathering in response to the high level of violence recently occurring in the City of Buffalo and Western New York.  With the support of the City of Buffalo, Buffalo Police Department, New York Pastors for Life, and Buffalo Peacemakers, the gathered will pray for peace and an end to the violence that threatens individuals, families, neighborhoods and our entire community.  All are welcome to attend.

Your Life, His Plan: Young Adult Conference

St. Amelia Parish invites all young adults (ages 18 through 39)  to a vocation conference who would like to learn more about fully living their Catholic life while single, married, religious, or as a priest. The Keynote speaker will be John Finch from The Vigil Project and Mass with Bishop Mike Fisher.

This conference will take place on August 7th, 2021 from noon until 5:30pm.

The cost is $20 per person to register, or $25 per person will allow admission to the conference and include a Chiavetta’s Chicken Dinner.  To add to the fun, there will be triva and prizes too!

Annual Picnic & 5K Race

The fun begins on Saturday, July 17 with an outdoor Mass at 5:30 p.m., followed by a food court, games, I GOT IT booth, with children’s activities available until dark. The Wine & Beer Tent opens at 6:30 p.m. with clams from Stockman’s Tavern and music by Not Quite Right. The 5K Chowder Chase Race & 3K Walk starts at 7 p.m. Walk the 3K, run the 5K, or just come to enjoy the party and band.  Register for the Chowder Chase until July 15th at http://www.stmaryswormville.org.

Picnic day is Sunday, July 18 beginning at 11:30 a.m. which includes drive thru and sit down sale of our famous St. Mary’s Chowder that we cook all night, food court, chicken dinners, a dessert bar, wine and beer tent, Trinkets & Treasures Church Garage Sale, live entertainment all day including music by Gimme Buffet, more games for all ages, and our annual raffle with a $10,000 grand prize.

109th Maher Family Mass

The Maher family will continue to honor the death of matriarch Mary Alice Maher who passed away in a fire at her home on July 4, 1912. Since 1912, the family has gathered for a mass in her honor. This marks the first year the mass will be held at St. Leo the Great in Amherst; the mass was formally held at Holy Angels Church.
